For centuries, the shop window has defined the store.

It's been the store's most valuable advertising space and been the biggest driver of traffic into the store.

There are two interesting new developments in shop windows, a category that has remained un-changed for centuries:

Doing away with windows all together: Some retailers are losing their store windows to create excitement!- Abercrombie's Ruehl 925 and American Eagle's Martin & Osa are doing just this

Forget windows, use plasma screens: At first glance it could appear to be a lazy designers solution, but it can be smart. As in the case of the new Nokia flagship stores where dozens of plasmas ensure the mood and feel of the store can change constantly. All controlled by the touch of a button at a single location in Finland.
