Interestingly, as with all supposed trends, there are paradoxes.
How about material possessions that also provide experiences?
An obvious example is a motorbike; it can function as a symbol of material wealth and also a conduit to experiences.
Experiences used to live in our memories and in fading photographs, but now our lives are being captured on multiple devices and perhaps preserved for generations. This is fine for sedate activities like family vacations, but what about the more extreme type of activity, like motorcycling?
Thankfully, Spanish motorcyle manufacturer Derbi has come up with a smart solution; an in-built video camera, with in an in-dash screen and recorder that it's showcasing in a new protoype bike design.

So you can capture your rides in film, store them and play them back later.
With the price and size of hard drives and cameras declining. How long before cameras and recorders become standard equipment on everything from your kid's bicycle, to snowboards and sports cars?
Then all our experiences, both the tame and the extreme can be recorded for posterity.
