Influx has been advocating for some time that brands try to develop "Proving Grounds"- places and ideas that work to demonstrate product performance. Panasonic did this recently when it created the first battery powered plane.

VW has used traditional and expected events like the Paris-Dakar rally to show the power, performance and endurance qualities of its Touareg SUV.

It's now gone a stage further by having the car to pull a Boeing 747.

Given the internet a place where consumer rumor and experience about brands blends and merges, brand owners can participate by using imaginative ways to demonstrate product performance.

Interestingly, there's no film of the Touraeg pulling the 747, which seems like a missed opportunity.

YouTube is such an obvious place to show off and demonstrate your brand's "Proving Ground" experience as BlendTec and Nike have recently shown.
