nike shifts into luxury

When the humble sneaker rose to prominence in the late 1980s, no one could have imagined its cultural significance.

This month, Nike is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its iconic Air Force One.

As a part of this celebration, it has commissioned limited edition versions of the shoe to be made by Italian craftsman.

Pushing the shoe from street to luxury status in a move that could never have been contemplated 25 years ago, but seems perfectly natural today and is perhaps indicative of where the Nike brand could be heading in the near future.
