To get people to understand their role in energy
conservation, you need big ideas; dramatic spectacles where thousands
of people can be allowed to see the difference they can make as
individuals. One of the best examples, is Earth Hour; an effort put together on 7.30pm Saturday March 31st by the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper and the WWF. The objective was to get Sydney citizens and businesses to turn their lights off for one hour.
The event was a huge success; close to half the city’s population (2.2 million people) turned and off their lights and organizers are looking to export the concept to other cities in 2008, perhaps even here in the US.
