This move doesn't make any sense, especially that we now live in a global world where every brand mistake or misfire is now accessible across borders.

It seems such a huge disconnect for a brand that in the rest of the world has people prepared to "pay" to stand in line for the phone.

"Poland's biggest telecoms operator, Telekomunikacja Polska, acknowledged Friday that it had paid young, hip-looking film extras to stand in queues for the national launch of Apple's iPhone.

"It was a marketing move. We thought it was a pretty interesting strategy," TP spokesman Wojciech Jabczynski told AFP."

Apple doesn't appear to have much control over what the carriers are now doing to market its phone.
