hollywood cashes in on soccer

Following on the success of indie movie "Bend it Like Beckham", Hollywood is trying to cash in on the global popularity of soccer. The movie Goal is currently in post-production and set for release later this year.

Touchstone Pictures is behind the movie and it has a typical Disney plot. It's a rags to riches story of a young Latino from East LA who makes it big at Newcastle United in England.

Danny Cannon directed the movie, he is best known for the movies "Judge Dread" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer".

Of course, there is an actor in a supporting role called Adidas, it gets to use its stars like Beckham and Zidane and to heavily feature its products.
