In piece of promotion to launch the PSP handheld game system in Europe, Sony is working with Show-Studio
asking people to record at various "micro-studios" (street studios)
around Europe 30-second videos that answer briefs. Various noteworthy judges have been selected from the worlds of film, advertising, modeling and art.

It's simple and nicely executed. They are giving away PSPs, but the real opportunity here is for people to be discovered. Most of the judges are offering to give personal advice to winners in the form of meetings and personal critiques.

Here are some of the London briefs....

"I would like to see an outfit designed to reflect the changing emotions of its wearer. Something fit for a James Bond -style escape."

"I am always looking for the next 'face of fashion'. My work depends on finding extraordinary girls in ordinary places. Position yourself 10 paces from the screen, next walk back and let me see your 'catwalk', then turn to camera and tell me your name."

"I am looking for an original talent who could change the face of music."

"London is an immensely creative city there has been a gathering momentum here over the last decade. This means that it's probably the most exciting place in the world in which to encounter new objects. So go on, amaze me."

It's something way beyond advertising for the PSP and that's why it's interesting. It involves lots of interaction, it injects PSP into the creative culture that transcends the "geekdom" of gaming, it demands creativity and the reward of "a first step on the ladder" is a nice because it offers an element of exclusivity.
