Influx have been going on about "cultural hubs" for some time now, suggesting that brands can create community-based locations that celebrate a core facet or aspect of their brand, the IFC center being one example.

Of course, if brands don't step up to the plate, entrepreneurs will. This is the case with Paragraph, also in New York. Paragraph offers writers a temporary walk-in haven (think Kinko's meets Pottery Barn) where they can create and work. It's clearly been developed for writers, by writers and has the potential to be a "cultural hub", as it expands beyond being just a workspace by adding readings, events and courses.
