The web is great, but nothing beats the power of a freshly minted cool new magazine to inspire every designer, art director, cool hunter and planner to new ideas. Tracking these magazines down can be tough, but here's a handy Influx created guide for LA and NYC newstands that can help you find those inspiring gems.

Thanks!
Damn this is nice!

I'm a mag head in Los Angeles and I've only visited three of these newstands; you've given me something to do on this hot, and humid Saturday.

Finding new magazines
This is somewhat self-serving, but I submit for your consideration my own recently established Web site, www.magsampler.com. The problem we address: there are a great many interesting consumer magazines being published, and the traditional channel for presenting them to the public, the newsstand distribution system, has been eroding so that there are fewer newsstands—and almost all of them present the same mass magazines from the same mass publishers. MagSampler.com is a rapidly growing catalogue of more than 330 magazines that doesn’t sell subscriptions, but instead offers visitors sample copies of recent or current issues for the flat rate of $2.59 each (a $2.00 shipping charge is added to each order). The publishers who take part in MagSampler.com know that placing a copy in the hands of an interested reader is a good way to get a subscriber. Readers get to see and read magazines that they might otherwise never hear about. The Web site also offers reviews of magazines, links to their home pages, and a gallery of interesting covers. We invite you to check it out!
