she was a lamb
she died at age 6 from a lung disease
a lung disease that usually occurs in much older sheep...
now they want to clone animals
to eat
and produce milk?
this is a scary prospect given our history of using science in ways we don't really understand
i.e. DDT
asbestos
lead paint...
it's also scary to think about what might happen if you thin out the diversity of animals DNA
especially if you consider the diseases that are around nowadays
mad cow
foot and mouth
and the avian flu to name a few...
none the less this is the future...
it'll be cheaper and easier to clone good tasting meat
rather than breed it...
you thought bigger is always better
you were wrong
cheaper is always better...
but this is only the first step
with populations growing with no end in site
land is a premium
cows take a lot of land
therefore we need a way to have meat
without a lot of space...
how about a petri dish?
cloning of animals is the first step
soon we'll just clone the meat
it takes less space
less nutrients are needed to grow a muscle than grow an entire animal
and finally
even vegetarians might start eating meat again because it'll no long be cruelty to animals...
therefore the meat will be cheaper to make
and there will be more people buying it
which translates to higher profits
but at what cost...
