It has finally happened, the French speaking Europeans (some Swiss, some Belgians, and all the French) have decided to export one of their cultural delights to the United States, La Nuit de Publivores or Night of the Ad Eaters, makes its way to New York on June 22.

This event is 90 minutes and shows a variety of ads from Switzerland, France, Belgium and other French speaking African nations. Luckily, all ads have English subtitles.

Details on the New York event can be found here.

La Nuit de Publivores has become something of a cultural fixture over in Europe. The idea started in 1981 and has spawned dozens of offshoots and now takes place in 160 cities across the world. The main Publivore event in Geneva is 8 hours long, starting at 10pm and ending at 6am.

It appears the Europeans have remarkable tolerance and appreciation for the art of advertising.

Nuit des publivores
As its name indicates the " Nuit des publivores " is an event that lasts one night in Francophonie, and not 90 minutes.
