There's a battle for new ideas and new thinking is happening in the world's cities. Increasingly this is a debate and discussion that involves airing that thinking in public.

This weekend, London's Serpentine Gallery hosts, what could best described as an "intellectual rave". Over a 24 hour period, that began on Friday at 6pm and ends on Saturday, Rem Koolhaas and Hans Ulrich Obrist interview 50 people.

The range of those being interviewed is astonishing and includes; Zaha Hadid, Ron Arad, Peter Saville, Gilbert and George, Damien Hirst and Iain Sinclair.

Here's more evidence that people are interested in learning outside of formal education systems and that art institutions can play a critical role in encouraging and facilitating the process.

The secret is to do it in surprising and imaginative ways like this.
