How many blogs are there? Technorati thinks there are over 50 million now, but there were only 35 million 6 months ago. The Blog Herald stated that we had 200 million blogs in February and only 100 million in October 2005. The BH (Blog Herald) probably doesn't have the same spam filters as Technorati, therefore BH's numbers are probably inflated by splogs.

According to a survey conducted by Perseus in Oct/03, only 66% of blogs had been updated in the previous 2 months. That percentage has probably decreased in the past 2.5 years as more people have abandoned their blog. Therefore a lot of these 50 Million to 200 Million blogs are probably not in use.

According to Technorati:
• The blogosphere is 100 times bigger than it was just 3 years ago
• Today, the blogosphere is doubling in size every 200 days, or about once every 6 and a half months.
• About 175,000 new weblogs were created each day, which means that on average, there are more than 2 blogs created each second of each day.
• Total posting volume of the blogosphere continues to rise, showing about 1.6 Million postings per day, or about 18.6 posts per second.
• This is about double the volume of about a year ago.
